Consent & Permit Director for Renewable Energy Project in Germany 

The Role 

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Consent & Permit Director in Germany to lead the permitting and compliance efforts for an on- and offshore renewable energy project. You will be responsible for ensuring adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, and environmental requirements while driving the smooth progression of projects through every phase—from initial planning and bid preparation to execution and operational delivery. You will coordinate closely with internal teams and act as the main liaison with external parties, such as regulatory bodies, consultants, and other stakeholders. Through collaboration and strategic management, you will play a central role in advancing our renewable energy goals and ensuring the success of LAUTEC. 

What You Will Do 

  • Overall responsible for establishing a Consent and Permitting strategy, operational plan 
  • Overall responsible for executing and managing the implementation of the Consent and Permit strategy with internal and external consultants. 
  • Assess consent requirements, potential risks, and opportunities to guide project selection effectively. 
  • Determine and communicate the permits, laws, and regulations relevant to each project and stakeholders. 
  • Ensure all necessary permits are applied for and obtained on time to enable uninterrupted project progress. 
  • Monitor and manage permit obligations and requirements diligently. 
  • Work closely with project teams to guarantee full compliance with all permit-related obligations across project scopes. 
  • Liaise with permitting authorities and prepare detailed compliance reports. 
  • Stay informed about regulatory changes that could affect permits or project execution timelines. 
  • Actively participate in shaping regulatory developments through consultations or by engaging with industry associations and interest groups. 
  • Engage and manage key stakeholders involved in the permitting process, including municipalities, government bodies, environmental groups, and consultants. 
  • Oversee inspections, evaluations, and environmental impact assessments to ensure compliance with both regulatory and project-specific requirements. 
  • Reports to the Project Director. 

What We Are Looking For 

Bringing the following skills and qualities will help you excel in the role of Consent & Permit Director: 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in law, renewable energy, environmental science, sustainability, spatial planning, public administration, or a related field. 
  • Expertise of offshore environmental and spatial planning regulations in Germany 
  • Expertise in managing processes of permitting and consenting in neighboring countries to Germany 
  • 10+ years of experience in a similar role, working with permits and application processes in technical fields subject to regulatory requirements and compliance in renewable energy or large infrastructure projects. 
  • Leadership experience in managing teams of 5-10 staff 
  • Leadership experience in managing specialist subcontractors 
  • Proven experience in stakeholder management and regulatory compliance. 
  • Fluency in German and English (written and spoken); Spanish is a plus. 
  • Experience working in international and multidisciplinary teams.
