GIS Specialist Consultant

The Role 

As part of our international GIS team, your days will be immersed in the dynamic world of EPC offshore wind farm projects, working in a full-time capacity. As our GIS Consultant in Hamburg in you will support global offshore wind development projects with geospatial analyses and visualizations, using both desktop and online mapping. 

Moreover, you will contribute to the development of LAUTEC’s online GIS solution for renewable energy projects. 

What You Will Do 

  • Performing data management – collecting, validating, analyzing, and distributing data to relevant stakeholders 
  • Performing 2D and 3D spatial analyses, for instance, seabed survey data analysis 
  • Mapping, visualizing and distributing data on different platforms – analogue and web 
  • Use GIS and project data to support concept-level, detailed engineering, and construction/offshore execution-phase complex technical queries and tasks for offshore wind projects 
  • Continuously working on digitizing and developing workflows – internally and in collaboration with stakeholders 
  • Collaborating with other specialists to develop wind farm projects – both internally and externally 
  • Maintaining a web based WindGIS solution to support knowledge sharing. 
  • Undertake data processing, complex spatial analyses, data management, and geo-communication on a diverse scope of geodata 
  • Manage client relationships and GIS platforms for multiple, global wind development projects daily 
  • Support the SaaS product development of our offshore wind GIS solutions that are tailor-made for offshore wind 

What We Are Looking For 

Bringing the following skills and qualities will help you excel in the GIS Consultant role: 

  • Relevant degree or study program in GIS, Computer Science, Engineering, Geography, or similar, paired with a general interest in developing renewable energy projects. Previous experience in the offshore energy industry preferred. 
  • Experience with spatial data analyses and data management. 
  • Experience with previous offshore construction, engineering, and/or survey projects is a plus; as is experience with offshore survey and infrastructure data models (eg. SSDM) 
  • Ability to communicate detailed technical information to a variety of technical- and non- technical/administrative functions. 
  • Knowledge of GIS applications and web mapping technologies, such as QGIS, ESRI ArcGIS, GeoServer, ArcGIS Online, Global Mapper, FME, Ogr2ogr, Python, or similar 
  • Knowledge of coordinate reference systems, including basic principles of geodetics, datum transformations, and applicable coordinate systems 
  • Fluency or advanced working proficiency in English with an ability to convey intricate matters professionally.
