The first year of the decade is almost over. But before we jump into the new year, let’s take a look at some of our highlights from 2020:
February 2020: We launched Q
We started the year by launching our re-engineered Q system for digital inspections – which is now available for both web (PC and Mac) and in the App Store for iOS devices.
Read more about our Q System here or contact us for a demo.
March 2020: We Released Sea Impact
Following a successful launch of Q, we released another system for offshore wind the following month. In March, we introduced Sea Impact together with PEAK Wind – a new tool for innovative performance insights into offshore wind projects built to date.
Good to know: Every week, the Sea Impact team publishes interesting data insights into specific offshore wind farms on its website and LinkedIn.
May 2020: We Published an Offshore Wind Book for Children
Covid-19 has also impacted our daily work around the world. Especially as consultants, we had to adjust to a new reality of social distancing and working remotely. So, we launched “How to Catch the Wind” – an educational and entertaining book for both children and their parents to learn about wind energy while staying at home together.
Download “How to Catch the Wind” here.
August 2020: We Launched FiDU (Field Data Uploader)
We love smart solutions. That is why we released another tool for the offshore industry in August. Based on our extensive GIS knowledge, we have developed FiDU, a Field Data Uploader.
The web-based software is designed for offshore operators to upload spatial data and report progress on contract deliverables. It is the result of a generation of lessons learned about the high cost of non-compliant data deliveries in offshore construction and survey.
Read more about FiDu here, or contact our Head of IT & GIS, Emil Braunstein.
September 2020: We Launched ESOX
In September, we released ESOX – a new and free simulation tool to run weather downtime simulations across offshore sites worldwide. We have developed the tool after a decade of project planning and execution in the offshore wind industry.

October 2020: We Participated at the First Virtual Global Offshore Wind Conference
For the first time, global conferences had to go digital – also offshore wind events. As part of the Danish pavilion, we were glad to host our first virtual booth at this year’s RenewableUK Global Offshore Wind event.
Meet us at the next event – we love to connect with anyone from the offshore wind or renewable energy. You can find all upcoming events here.
December 2020: Our Team Grew Globally
We know our success lies in creating the best teams. That is why our employees are our greatest asset. At the end of the year, we’re proud to see that our team has grown. Today we are 34 employees working for LAUTEC in Denmark, Taiwan, Boston, and Australia. We want to thank each of our colleagues for their hard work and commitment to our team in this unusual year.
If you’re looking for a career in offshore wind, check out our current job openings. Maybe, you will be our new colleague in 2021?
