UK Awards 8.4 GW of Offshore Wind Capacity in AR7 Auction

The United Kingdom has awarded Contracts for Difference (CfDs) to eight offshore wind projects totaling 8.4 GW in its latest AR7 auction – the largest offshore wind auction ever held in Europe.

The AR7 winners include:

🔹Awel y Môr – 775 MW – Fixed – RWE
🔹Berwick Bank – 1380 MW – Fixed – SSE
🔹Dogger Bank South East – 1500 MW – Fixed – RWE & Masdar
🔹Dogger Bank South West – 1500 MW – Fixed – RWE & Masdar
🔹Norfolk Vanguard East – 1545 MW – Fixed – RWE
🔹Norfolk Vanguard West – 1545 MW – Fixed – RWE
🔹Erubus – 100 MW – Floating – Total Energies & Simply Blue Group
🔹Pentland – 92.5 MW – Floating – CIP

The results of this tender mark a strong recovery for offshore wind following the failed AR5 auction, where no projects were awarded. UK AR7 auction sends a clear signal of renewed confidence in the UK’s offshore wind sector.

The new capacity will generate enough clean electricity to power over 12 million homes, putting the UK firmly on track to meet its clean power by 2030 target.
