Geospatial Wind Power Engineer

The Role

As part of our international GIS team, you will support global offshore wind development projects with geospatial analyses and visualizations, using both static and online mapping. Moreover, you will work with early-stage development projects performing resource and layout assessments.

Responsibilities

  • Manage GIS system and data for an offshore wind development project on a daily basis
  • Manage a spatial database and data distribution, ensuring quality and readiness (both technical and content-wise)
  • Perform high-level resource analysis and yield assessment during early-stage development of projects
  • Develop detailed and optimized wind farm layout designs, long-term wind speed estimations, and energy production predictions for wind farms
  • Assist with the development of product-based GIS solutions, geodata standards, and client-specific GIS solutions
  • Assist with resource assessments on early-stage feasibility projects for global projects

About You

Bringing the below skills and qualities will make it easier to succeed in this role: 

  • Relevant degree providing a strong foundation in GIS technology and geomatics, renewable energy, or environmental science
  • Relevant work experience as part of a project team within the wind power or other renewable industry
  • 2+ years of experience working in a comparable role is preferred (but not a must)
  • Knowledge of technologies and tools, such as QGIS, ArcGIS, FME, CAD, Global Mapper, spatial databases such as PostGIS, and web GIS mapping technologies
  • Proficiency in coding with possible experience with Python
  • Knowledge of cartographic products and solutions, including web GIS and field GIS deployments
  • Fluency in English and excellent communication skills, enabling you to present complex matters to local and international stakeholders
  • Must have the right to live and work in Melbourne, Australia
  • Able to adapt as part of a quickly changing project environment
